Search Engine Optimization

Hey everyone, welcome back to this week's blogs, For this week's blog, I will be giving advice to companies on how they can improve website traffic with reference to proven tips that have boosted website rankings. As we know today, the internet is what most people go to for information, shopping, browsing, and much more, so a good website is essential to a business’s success. My advice to companies to improve website traffic is: 1.        Improve Loading Speed According to a study, pages at the top of Google ranking, load significantly faster than those at the bottom. As we all experience when searching on Google if something doesn’t open quickly, we usually give up and find a different website. 2.       Optimize your content with Keywords. Introduction & Work Placement

Introduction

Hey, my name is Ben King and I am from Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny. I am 21 years of age and I am in my fourth year of college at SETU Waterford studying for a Bachelor of Business degree I chose the accounting stream.

In the third year as a part of our year we were required to complete work placement in the second semester after doing a few interviews I was lucky enough to get a position in Transfermate as a finance intern on the finance team. Transfermate is a global payments company. Transfermate is the world's leading B2B global payments infrastructure as a service. They simplify, digitalize, and automate the manual tasks involved in paying and getting paid.

Information Systems & Work Placement

As a part of my role in the team, I used information systems every single day. One information system used by every single employee was CoreHR which was the system we used to clock in and clock out at the beginning and the end of the days, this system was also used to read company policies which would be added to the to-do list, and to be completed within a certain time frame, this is used to request time off also.

One drive was the system we used to access all our files which I was granted access to. SYSAID was the information system we used to request access to files and other information. This is done by raising a ticket to the IT team who grant you access. We used a VPN to help access the one drive with all the files and made the system more secure.

SAP was the main information system I used during my time in the company. SAP was the accounting system we used. I used SAP almost every day to pull trial balances for certain entities and certain time periods, this was the same for general ledgers also. This was difficult to navigate at first but as with everything with time it got easier and faster. Another job of mine was to post accounting journals to the relevant entities, I would be sent a spreadsheet of the journals which I would then use to input them into SAP.

I had a minor job of adding and deleting users on SAP Concur which is an information system used by the company for employees to claim their business expenses such as expenses incurred on business trips or mileage used traveling to a work event. I also had to add and delete users on Navan Travel this was a system the company used to book business trips. It required the employee to input the destination and time and they would find the cheapest flight and hotel, taking into account the distance from the event and quality of the accommodation.

That's all from me, Lovely to meet you all and share a bit about me and my experiences. Looking forward to the next few months :)
