Hey guys, for this week’s blog I will be discussing how to make your blog,
more user-friendly by making it engaging to the reader. Let's be honest it's challenging but over time it gets easier. At first, I found this
difficult as it was my first experience writing a blog, but through the weeks,
I believe I have improved in that regard, and I am sharing my experience while
also giving advice to all of you.
In a blog, it is important to get across the information you want to share while also not making it an intense environment with tons of information in one post. To achieve this, I decided to try and make my informative points as short as possible to help keep the readers focused while making my point. It’s also very helpful to include relevant examples where possible. In my case, I tried to use examples of companies that are well known to people, this engages the reader as it’s a company that they have heard of and are interested in how the information applies to these companies. Nobody wants to read a post that does not interest them.
One strategy I found very useful was connecting myself to the topic I was
discussing, this helps engagement as it shows the reader you have an experience
with the topic you are discussing, this gives the chance for me to express my
opinion on it and helps the reader to consume them with the information being
presented. For example, when talking about ERP systems I try and bring my own
experiences of some systems into the blog, to share my opinion on them.
Identifying my key audience was another important aspect of my blog writing
strategy, with my blogs mainly being read by my classmates and lecturer, I tried
to make the examples and information as relative as possible to them while also
getting the information across as well as possible.
Great tips Ben! I will definitely use these for my next post.
